HOW TO PLAY

Phoenix Protocol is a turn-based roguelike deckbuilder. You play as Ghost, piloting a disposable robot body through Crownpoint City.

Combat Basics

• Each turn you draw 5 cards.
• You have 3 Energy to spend.
• Drag a card from your hand onto an enemy (or onto yourself for defensive cards) to play it.
• Your goal is to reduce all enemies to 0 HP before they reduce you to 0 HP.

Card Types:

• Protocols (Red): Attack cards that deal damage.
• Subroutines (Blue): Defense cards that give Block, reducing incoming damage.
• Directives (Green): Utility cards that apply status effects, gain energy, draw, etc.

Statuses to know:

• Expose: Enemy takes more damage.
• Throttle: Enemy deals less damage.
• Fortify: Gain Block at end of turn.
• Corrupt: Takes damage each turn.

Deck Building

After each victory you choose one new card to add to your deck. Your deck is your power curve—build toward a strategy.

The Map

Between fights, select nodes on the map:

• Combat: Standard encounters.
• Shop: Spend Scrap to buy one-time-use Augments and new cards.
• Rest: Remove a card.
• Dialogue: Story beats with Ghost and other characters.

Choose your path wisely; you only heal from specific Subroutines.

Death and Progression

When your HP hits 0, the run ends. But Ghost reboots with:

• Permanent EXP that unlocks more cards in the pool.
• New dialogue and encounters in later attempts.

Progress is steady. Runs are short. You get stronger every time.
